We’ve talked about how Dash is integrating itself as a valid, legitimate, and fast way of paying for goods and services here and on our podcast.  Now, we’re happy to report that Dash Africa and Dash Hub Africa have made significant progress in driving the adoption of cryptocurrency in Africa.  What do you think of Africa using Dash as currency?

The cryptocurrency platform confirmed that despite not having the resources to fully fund its projects, Ghana and Nigeria have been slowly using Dash to buy airtime through Dash’s collaboration with Bitrefill.  Bitrefill is a company that allows customers to buy more airtime by making payments with Bitcoin and other altcoins like Dash.

Furthermore, Dash Hub Africa has been able to drive merchant and consumer adoption through an ambassador program.  25 merchants have already decided to use Dash for payment.

Dash Africa is a non-profit educational organization whose aim is to promote the concept, understanding, adaptability, and adoption of digital currency in order to bring financial stability and economic growth on the continent.

According to Dash Hub Africa, consumers were inclined to use Dash as a currency to pay bills, vouchers, and subscriptions.  Clarifying, Dash Hub Africa stated:

“Africa continent with Real-time use of Dash… Remittance to Africa is over $63 Billion yearly with expensive charges.  The Dash Hub Africa project is to divert remittances to Africa through Dashpay as a DigitalCash payment solution offers the best features with a low transaction fee.”

The Dash Hub Africa project was initiated to build awareness, adoption, and adaption of Dash and make it mainstream in Africa.  Dash hopes to increase the everyday usage of the cryptocurrency, like it is used in Venezuela, to pay for goods and services.

Venezuela has become a fast adopter of the cryptocurrency Dash.  This is being done successfully due to Dash’s contributions via Dash Merchant, Help Venezuela, and Dash Text.  Dash collaborated with thousands of Venezuelan merchants through their hard work.  Alejandro Echeverria, the director of Dash Venezeula stated:

“Dash is a cryptocurrency that is mainly based on being a means of payment: to be fast, to have almost imperceptible commissions, and to be an open cryptocurrency exchangeable by any cryptoactive and any fiduciary currency worldwide.”

Matt and Kurt talked briefly about Dash in the first episode of our podcast series.  You can listen to it here.  They remarked how in Venezuela, paying for food stuff is so easy.  Dash is one of the leaders of making cryptocurrency easier to use, therefore accelerating adoption by everyday people.  What do you think?  Do you think Dash will be successful?  What’s your favorite cryptocurrency to use to pay for everyday items?  Let us know on our Facebook page!
