Tether pulls support for Peter McCormack! Tether pulls support for Peter McCormack in Craig Wright’s libel suit! Until now, Tether had been supporting McCormack’s defense as he is being sued by Wright. McCormack’s side is rumored to settle the case.
McCormack was trying to have the case thrown out before evidential discovery could begin. Discovery was expected to produce evidence, from either side, that Wright was or was not Satoshi Nakamoto.
McCormack’s application for a strike-out was rejected by the Court, who ordered McCormack to pay Wright £18,500 in costs. As a result, discovery proceeded as planned beginning in September and has recently concluded.
It’s at this point that McCormack’s funders lost their interest in defending McCormack’s claims. It’s a sudden about-face for Tether, who had been happy to follow McCormack wherever the case went.
The fact that Tether was not willing to wait until November to see if McCormack’s attempt to get the case thrown out seems to point towards evidence that Tether deems fatal to their case.
The big questions seems to be what exactly McCormack and his backers saw in discovery. What was the evidence that they now know that they can no longer claim that Craig Wright is not a fraud? It is clear from these actions that Tether believes that Craig Wright is Satoshi. The question is – what prompted them to believe this?
