Hey Crypto Traders! As we make our way into the new year with record numbers of members here in this group, I want to take a moment to talk about security.
Hackers are smart. Some of them are absolutely brilliant, and there are a million threats out there who want to GET YOUR CRYPTOCURRENCY, and the reason is that once a transaction occurs it’s final, so thieves can take off with your stuff, and you will never get it back.
So what’s a crypto trader to do?
Aside from updating your computer, using a hardware wallet, VPN and malwarebytes.com, I really like paper wallets. A paper wallet is generated offline and printed out, written down, or even etched in a permanent substrate (like stainless steel). When done correctly, the private keys NEVER touch the internet and therefore can only be stolen in person by a thief who knows what he’s looking for and where to look. What’s cool is you can send transactions to that wallet just like any other, and when you want to cash in, you just upload your private key into a secure digital wallet, and use your cryptocurrency however you wish.
I use https://moneroaddress.org and https://walletgenerator.net/?currency=BitcoinCash# offline to secure my longterm holds. I then make redundant copies and keep them redundantly in safe places to mitigate the risk of loss from damage or theft.
There are other security tips for sure, but this is one of my favorite ways to be totally paranoid and very, very secure.
