John McAfee found dead in prison cell! John McAfee found dead in prison cell – the news was confirmed by The Department of Justice of the Spanish Generalitat. John McAfee, a longtime hacker and creator of the antivirus software of his name, was found dead at the age of 75. Earlier in the day, the Spanish National Court had given the go-ahead for the extradition of McAfee to the United States.
According to authorities, surveillance professionals and medical services intervened immediately to practice resuscitation but to no avail. “The judicial procession has traveled to the prison and is investigating the causes of death. Everything indicates that it could be a death by suicide,” they said in a statement.
Getting subtle messages from U.S. officials saying, in effect: "We're coming for you McAfee! We're going to kill yourself". I got a tattoo today just in case. If I suicide myself, I didn't. I was whackd. Check my right arm.$WHACKD available only on https://t.co/HdSEYi9krq🙂 pic.twitter.com/rJ0Vi2Hpjj

McAfee was arrested in October at El Prat airport in Barcelona. He was on his way to Istanbul. The courts continued to reject his requests for freedom stating that he posed a flight risk.
The National Court had agreed to the extradition of McAfee to the United States for alleged tax evasion from 2016 to 2018. During the extradition hearing, McAfee’s alleged tax debt amounted to more than four million dollars – he claimed to have paid “millions of dollars in taxes” and said that he was a victim of political persecution for having denounced corruption in the tax agency.
McAfee was one of the first programmers to design an antivirus and helped developed a computer virus scanner when he was working for Lockheed, an aerospace company. He founded McAfee Associates, the antivirus company, in 1989.
McAfee was a prominent Bitcoiner – he made his debut at the Blockchain Money Conference in London back in 2016, and became a prolific Bitcoin evangelist especially on Twitter, during the 2017 crypto bull run.
