“Now you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and other coins in Lumi Wallet with Apple Pay. We are happy to announce the new iOS release that allows users to buy crypto right within the wallet app in just one click,” the crypto wallet said.
The process is as simple as clicking buy, the amount, and choosing Apple Pay.
Since Apple Pay deals with AML and KYC, the crypto wallet does not need any further on boarding, making this a seamless integration.
Lumi is a non-custodian crypto wallet that launched in 2017 – it has already surpassed 750,000 users. This news comes after rumors of Coinbase wanting to integrate with Apple Pay as well in response to PayPal rolling out Bitcoin buying on their app.
The Coinbase rumors remain unsubstantiated, but this latest announcement by Lumi adds credibility for Apple to open their Pay wallet to all providers on their App Store.
Apple Pay is said to account for 5% of all global card transactions – it is predicted to grow to 10% by 2025.
This makes Apple Pay one of the fastest growing payment method since its launch in 2014. With users able to buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies via Lumi, maybe other wallets will integrate with Apple Pay as well.
