Ledger goes mobile at CES!   The crypto wallet company popular for their hardwallets has revealed its latest iterations for mobile users.   The Bluetooth-enabled Nano X device was unveiled at the annual Consumer Electronics show (CES) in Las Vegas.

By enabling Bluetooth connectivity, the Nano X can readily be used with mobile devices – a sticking point for many of its current users of the Ledger S.  Recognizing that most of the world uses mobile devices for connectivity, Ledger CEO Eric Larchevêque said this:

“The fact that we have a mobile application and it works with the Nano X is really the big evolution of the hardware for this lineup,”

By offering this, the company is able to offer the security of Ledger for a greater number of cryptocurrency users.

Per Ledger’s website, more than 1.3 million Nano S devices have been sold.   The Nano S is expected to drop in price, and the Nano X is expected to be the flagship product for Ledger.   It is expected to retail for $119 in the US and 119 Euros in Europe.

The Nano X is also going to field a slightly bigger screen too, an improvement to the current Nano S.  The screen will make security easier for the user due to Ledger’s software and hardware requiring a lot of actions to be done on the device itself to be secure.

“It’s a more advanced device,” Larchevêque said of the Nano X.

The Ledger Live mobile app will be available on Google Play and iTunes on Jan. 28, according to Ledger.

Ledger will have many third party apps working alongside it as well, to ensure that users will be able to send cryptocurrency to the right address and not worry about sending their hard earned cryptocurrency incorrectly.

This device launching for mobile users will vastly increase the number of users who are looking for secure cryptocurrency wallets that don’t rely on having the transactions sent to and from a computer.  This is a very smart move on the part of Ledger.

Ledger’s reveal of this device in Vegas is also a statement.  CES is not a crypto show, it’s a tech show.  But ledger is used by many people, almost to the point where this is not a niche device.   With the release of the Nano X, it will further solidify their status as one of the most trusted and accessible cryptocurrency wallets in the world.

CES recognizes this.  CES awarded the Nano X with its 2019 “Innovation Award in Cyber Security and Personal Privacy.”
