Craig Wright Sues Twitter trolls. Craig Wright is reminding crypto trolls that their online comments aren’t 100% anonymous.
On 3/29/2019, Wright’s attorneys served legal papers on the individual behind the Twitter account @Hodlonaut. The papers indicated that Wright had had enough of Hodlonaut’s “targeted campaign” to harass and libel Wright with “highly defamatory and abusive tweets.”
@Hodlonaut has since deleted its offending tweets, among which called Wright “a very sad and pathetic scammer. Clearly mentally ill.” The account was also one of the originators of the hashtag #CraigWrightIsAFraud and accused Wright of attempting to “fraudulently prove he is Satoshi.”
Wright’s attorneys attempted to clarify matters: Wright “has not fraudulently claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. He is Satoshi Nakamoto. He produced the report Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System in October 2008, sent the first Bitcoin to Hal Finney in January 2009 and played an integral part in the development of Bitcoin. He has explained his role in detail on previous occasions.”
Wright is demanding the individual behind the @Hodlonaut account tweet an apology to him, make a statement in open court apologizing to Wright, and acknowledge the falsity of the allegations made against Wright. There has been no response from Hodlonaut.
The @Hodlonaut account claims to be based in Norway and the majority of its tweets were sent from the Oslo area, including a photo from Kasbah, a local bar. Some of the pictures include tattoos that are clearly visible – Wright is offering US $5,000 in Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) for information regarding @Hodlonaut.
There’s little doubt that Hodlonaut was motivated to attack Wright due to their very public support of the Lightning Network for Bitcoin. The attempts to smear Wright might come across as an attempt to discredit Wright’s support for BSV and its capacity for massive on-chain scaling.
These attacks have also happened to Calvin Ayre, another well respected BSV Supporter, who, over the past few weeks, has also endured allegations and smears regarding underage females. @Hodlonaut was part of this disinformation campaign, referring to Ayre as ‘PedoCalvin’.
@Hodlonaut and other internet trolls are about to discovery the meaning behind the adage “he who laughs last, laughs best.”
What do you think? Does Wright have a platform to stand on? Or is this just a massive misunderstanding? Let us know what you think on our Facebook page!
