Is Apple watching Cryptocurrency? According to Jennifer Bailey, Apple watching cryptocurrency is just the start for the company.
Jennifer Bailey, Apple Pay’s Vice President, was talking to CNN in San Francisco at a private event, saying: “we think it’s interesting. We think it has interesting long-term potential.”
Bailey did not talk about the potential use cases that Apple might pursue with cryptocurrency.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Apple is watching cryptocurrency – after all, Facebook is planning on launching their Libra Stablecoin next year. With that large of a company eyeing cryptocurrency, it just makes sense that Apple would be also looking at Cryptocurrency from Cupertino.
In February, Apple submitted a form to the SEC that contained rare details about the tech giant’s interest in blockchain tech.
If the filing is to be believed, Apple is in the process of drafting “blockchain guidelines” for the Responsible Minerals Initiative and has been working with the RBA’s blockchain team.
Speaking off topic, Bailey also explained why Apple had specific instructions for their Apple Card, issued by Goldman Sachs. Their instructions included not keeping the card in wallet or denim, nor to allow it to touch other cards. Her explanation?
“We want it always to look perfect.”
