TD Ameritrade exploring XRP and cryptocurrency! TD Ameritrade, a US Brokerage service that is used by 11 million retail investors, announced that they would be exploring cryptocurrency options for its users.
They responded to a question about whether it will give its clients the option to trade Ripple, XRP. Their response: “Glad you’re enjoying our content! We’re still exploring the #XRP space – stay tuned for more information. Our team is working hard to make things like this happen.”
TD Ameritrade has let it be known that they’re interested in cryptocurrency. They were one of the principal investors in ErisX in October. ErisX is a new regulated cryptocurrency exchange for spot and futures trading. Operated by Eris Exchange, they’re a Chicago-based derivatives market.
ErisX offers traders access to cryptocurrency spot contracts as well as futures contracts on a single exchange. Jessica Darmoni, a spokesperson for ErisX, says it will allow investors to trade Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin, as well futures contracts on cryptocurrencies.
TD Ameritrade said at the time of its investment regarding their retail clients “are seeking to access and trade digital currency products in the same way they do with traditional capital markets – through a legitimate, regulated, and transparent exchange.”
TD Ameritrade’s 11 million clients altogether account for around $1.2 trillion dollars in assets.
