The 2016 Bitfinex breach that resulted in millions of dollars in Bitcoins stolen have been moved!   The 2016 Bitfinex breach resulted in million dollars worth of Bitcoins stolen.   

At 6.15 PM EST on Monday, Bitcoin reaches $11,379.00 per bitcoin on Bitfinex.  The hackers moved the then $28 million dollars worth of BTC in various fractions six hours prior to the price high.

Whale Alert saw a number of large BTC transfers on Monday afternoon, but these specific bitcoins were stolen in 2016.  They were sent to unknown wallets.   

Some transactions were anywhere between 85 BTC to 174, with one transaction above 400 BTC.   

The Bitfinex hackers moved just over 2,550 BTC.   These Bitcoins stemmed from a security breach Bitfinex experienced in 2016 when the exchange lost 120,000 BTC.  That is worth $1.3 billion dollars at current prices.   

Stolen coins are always a fan favorite to monitor and people are always watching the wallets with great interest.   The Bitfinex coins are no exception.   

Yesterday’s move of $28 million dollars worth of Bitcoin has been one of the largest moves done by the Bitfinex hackers to date.
